According to the public relations office of Persian Gulf and Oman Sea Ecology Research Institute, Dr. Bahmani, the head of Iranian Fisheries Science Research Institute (IFSRI), visited this institute on Saturday, October 16, 2021 to review the status of research activities. A public meeting was held with the presence of faculty and non-faculty researchers, experts and financial administrative staff, and the support department of the research institute. Dr. Mortazavi, had a brief overview of the most significant activities of the research institute.
Dr. Mohebbi, the research assistant of the research institute, presented a detailed report on the activities, including research and technology activities, extension and transfer of scientific findings and international relations. She mentioned that there are currently 28 research projects in the institute, which include the priorities of the institute in Hormozgan province and order-based research activities by executive organizations, the private sector and joint with Shiraz, and Shahid Beheshti universities. She further described the important achievements of the research institute during the year, including the collection, domestication and breeding of Cobia in captivity and production of probiotic farmed shrimp containing native Streptomyces strains with the ability to inhibit microbial diseases.
Dr. Mohebbi considered the transfer of scientific findings, training workshops and the implementation of pilot site and farms as the most important promotional activities of Persian Gulf and Oman Sea Ecology Research Institute in the second half of 2021. She declared the problems and suggestions for improvement of Research / extension activities process and maximum achievement of research goals and priorities. She pointed out that this Institute from 2017 to 2020 consecutively won top rankings in evaluating the performance of research institutes and affiliated centers.
Dr. Behzadi, Deputy Director of Administration, Finance and Support of the Research Institute, gave a speech to explain the status of current project credits and provincial agreements. Dr. Bahmani, Head of IFSRI, explained in detail the policies and macro programs and the latest status of research activities and support of the institute. He appreciated the colleagues and announced Persian Gulf and Oman Sea Ecology Research Institute as one of the most powerful research institutes and institute-affiliated centers and emphasized the development of international communications and the increase of revenue-generating activities. Dr. Bahmani stressed the need to do research based on problems which were detected on fisheries sector and called on researchers to contribute to the sustainable and optimal use of water resources by presenting new ideas
Holding a joint meeting with Persian Gulf Biotechnology Park on Qeshm Island
A joint meeting was held with Dr. Ranjbar, the head of the Persian Gulf Biotechnology Park on Qeshm Island. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mortazavi, Head of Persian Gulf and Oman Sea Ecology Research Institute, Dr. Mohebbi, Deputy Director for Research, and Dr. Salarpouri, Head of the Institute's Resources Assessment Department. Dr. Ranjbar announced that most of the activities of the companies affiliated with the park are related to fisheries industries. He also explained the goals and scope of work of the most important knowledge-based companies affiliated with Persian Gulf Biotechnology Park in the field of processing fish with low economic value, breeding ornamental fish and algae. Dr. Bahmani further emphasized the possibility of joint cooperation between IFSRI and Persian Gulf and Oman Sea Ecology Research Institute with technology companies affiliated with Persian Gulf Biotechnology Park to promote technological achievements.
Visiting the workplace of knowkedge-based Company for processing products of macroalgae in Persian Gulf Biotechnology Park on Qeshm Island
The workplace of Darya Parvaran Anahita Knowledge-Based Biology Company was also on the visit list of Dr. Bahmani and Dr. Mortazavi. In this visit, Dr. Sohrabipour gave a detailed description of the cultivation of Gracilariopsis persica and its processed products such as agar, alginate and carrageenan, agarose, two samples of liquid fertilizer and solid algae fertilizer. During the visit, Dr. Bahmani emphasized the possibility of joint cooperation in promoting the cultivation of algae.
Joint meeting with Sandorf Jask shrimp larval reproduction cooperative company for marine fish breeding
Dr. Bahmani, in order to investigate the possibility of developing joint research activities with the private sector, participated in a joint meeting with Dr.Gorgij, CEO of Sandorf Jask Shrimp Reproduction Cooperative Company. The meeting was attended by the head and deputies of Persian Gulf and Oman Sea Ecology Research Institute, the head of the aquaculture department and the executor of Cobia fish domestication and breeding research project. Dr. Bahmani explained the importance of joint activities with the private sector and fisheries operators. He particularly emphasized on the possibility of cooperation with private operators and companies in the field of marine fish breeding. Furthermore, with the willingness of Sandorf Jask Shrimp Larvae Reproduction Cooperative Company to share its existing facilities, it was decided to examine the details and technical requirements of the cooperation in more detail during the joint webinar meeting.

Tabassom Sahel Qeshm Company is one of the knowledge-based companies active in the field of reproduction and breeding of ornamental saltwater fish, which is located in Persian Gulf Biotechnology Park on Qeshm Island. The company's activity in reproduction and breeding of clownfish was visited by the head of IFSRI and the accompanying team. During this visit, Dr. Niroumand provided detailed explanations about the technical knowledge of breeding this ornamental fish and the problems in its marketing.

Dr. Bahmani and the accompanying team visited Shahab Noghreyi Qeshm Processing Company in Persian Gulf Biotechnology Park on Qeshm Island. During the visit, the company's representative provided a complete description of the operation process after the delivery of the catch, including unloading in 150 kg tanks, cooking and sun drying, and finally storage.
It is noteworthy that moto and sardine fish are very valuable aquatic reserves in Hormozgan province, which due to consumption with bones, have a high nutritional value and a very significant percentage of protein and calcium; However, the consumption of these fishes has not yet found its commercial food consumption market in the domestic market. During this visit, Dr. Bahmani declared the institute's readiness to cooperate with the company in the field of product diversification.
