The aquaculture extension working group meeting was held in the presence of the head of the working group (the head of the South of Iran Aquaculture Research Center), the secretary of the working group (the education and aquaculture extension liaison), the deputy directors, the heads of the specialized departments, the executor of the aquaculture extension project for the establishment of a model seabass aquaculture farm, the head of the office for shrimp and marine organisms of the Khuzestan Department of Fisheries and the head of the Shrimp Farmers Union as well as a group of seabass aquaculture practitioners in order to coordinate the implementation of the aquaculture extension project for the establishment of the model seabass aquaculture farm in shrimp farms in Chavibdeh, Abadan County. Dr. Hooshmand, the head of the South of Iran Aquaculture Research Center, pointed out to the shortcomings in the production chain of this fish and considered the implementation of the aquaculture extension projects as a solution to remove the barriers of production and increase its prosperity. Then, Dr. Ahangar Zadeh, the education and aquaculture extension liaison and the secretary of the working group, spoke about the capacities of aquaculture extension especially in preparing promotional TV programs and producing content to introduce the project and acquaint people with this fish. In addition, Mr. Moalem, the president of the Shrimp Farmers Union, while appreciating and thanking the research center for holding this meeting and carrying out the extension projects, asked the research center to review the three sections of "health and diseases, marketing and reproduction" in the seabass production chain. He pointed out that failure to formulate requirements and important points in preventing the occurrence of disease in this fish, increasing marketability through processing and reducing production costs by formulating cheap feed and localization of the broodstock developement to cut dependence on imports of seabass juveniles from abroad are among the bottlenecks in the production and sale of this fish. Mr. Nakhleh, the head of the office for shrimp and marine organisms of the Khuzestan Department of Fisheries, also called the impossibility of obtaining environmental permits as one of the challenges of producing this fish in Khuzestan. He said that the solution to this problem is to conduct an environmental assessment study for this species in the province by the research center. In the end, the model farm and affiliated farms, and the time for holding the week of transfer of scientific findings, training workshops, the farm day and the harvest festival were determined in this project.
