A meeting was held at the Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Training Center of Golestan Province in the presence of Dr. Aghaei Moghaddam, the head of the Inland Waters Aquatic Stocks Research Center - Gorgan, Dr. Hosseini, the head of the division for rebuilding aquatic resource, Dr. Faraji, the head and the deputy director for research and the planning deputy director of the Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Training Center of Golestan Province in order to cooperate and make optimal use of the scientific and infrastructural potentials of the two centers. Dr. Faraji spoke about the importance of the agricultural sector in food security in the country and the reduction of imports, and then raised the issue of the possibility of joint activities between the two sectors of agriculture and aquaculture. Then, Dr. Aghaei Moghaddam explained the facilities and infrastructure of the Inland Waters Aquatic Stocks Research Center - Gorgan in order to implement the pilot projects and the possibility of providing specialized advice on fish farming in dual - purpose ponds for agriculture and aquaculture. Dr. Faraji spoke about the registration of a new cultivar of genetically modified bean with higher yield characteristics, as well as the desired food quality and the possibility of using it in aquatic feeds with the approach of reducing dependence on imported inputs. Therefore, it was decided that the above mentioned center should prepare a research proposal in this regard to be reviewed and registered as a project of the macro plan for the use of the new bean cultivar in the country. It was also agreed to consult on the dual - use application of the 40 - hectare human made wetland of the Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Training Center of Golestan Province located at the Alang Research Station. Also, the possibility of using research ponds on the Alang Farm in order to cooperate with the private sector active in cage fish farming was discussed.
