At the meeting among three research institutes to participate in the implementation of algae technology projects, which was held in the form of a webinar, Dr. Mahmoud Bahmani noted the importance of algae in various fields. He said: Research activities in the field of algae studies and their application in various fields began in the early 1990s at the Chabahar Offshore Fisheries Research Center, during which the identification of algae was performed. The director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute added: More than 180 species of algae have been identified on the coast of Chabahar with a length of 300 km. According to him, currently 8 research centers and research institutes affiliated to the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute are conducting research related to algae, and currently 6 phycolabs are operating at these research centers and research institutes. Dr. Bahmani stated that the National Algae Working Group started its activities in 2015 with the pivotal role of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute and the cooperation of five other research centers and research institutes. He stated: One of the achievements of this working group is the development of the national document on algae and six related strategic plans. Therefore, considering the hardware and software capacities of the member organizations in this working group, it is hoped that other achievements can be achieved in this field that solve various problems in industries such as pharmaceuticals, veterinary medicine, animal husbandry and human nutrition. The official of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute added: With the formation of the bank of microalgae at the institute, different species of microalgae will be kept in this bank. Dr. Hafezieh, the deputy director for research and technology of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, presented a detailed report on the performance of this institute on algae activities and research. Also, Dr. Khosh Kholgh Sima, Dr. Hosseini Salkadeh and Dr. Amin Hejazi from the Agriculture Biotechnology Research Institute of Iran presented a report on the performance of the Agriculture Biotechnology Research Institute of Iran in the field of algae and microalgae. In this regard, production in the fields of nanotechnology and geomix in algal technologies was one of the cases that this research institute proposed in the form of joint cooperation. Also, Dr. Agha Shahi from the Animal Science Research Institute of Iran mentioned the participation in the working group of algae and aquatic plants and research activities on the function of algae in animal and poultry nutrition. Dr. Ajdari from the Chabahar Offshore Fisheries Research Center and Dr. Nasrollahzadeh from the Caspian Sea Ecology Research Center attended the meeting via Skyroom and expressed their views on projects related to algae. The development of technical knowledge of high - volume algae production systems in different regions according to climatic conditions, the development of technical knowledge of production and supply of microalgae stock required for aquaculture industry, the formulation of livestock, poultry and aquatic rations using microalgae products, the development of the bank of indigenous algae, the acquisition of technical knowledge of transplantation of seaweed through tissue culture and the extraction of biological products from algae and their use in various industries were among the resolutions of this meeting.
