The expert of the Hormozgan Management and Planning Organization visited the ongoing and completed projects at the mollusks research station in Bandar Lengeh. Dr. Behzadi, the deputy director for support, finance and administration of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea Ecological Research Institute, was present during the visit. Mr. Rameshi, the head of the mollusks research station, provided detailed explanations about the completed and ongoing projects and answered the questions of Mr. Salari, the expert of the Hormozgan Management and Planning Organization. Mr. Rameshi stated: One of the tasks of this station is to help preserve the generation of pearl oysters and edible oysters. In this regard, three projects have been carried out including the breeding and rearing and rebuilding of the black - lip pearl oyster stocks, rebuilding the resources of the pearl oysters belonging to the genus Pinctada in the western islands of Hormozgan and collection and mass cultivation of edible oysters (with the financial support of the Hormozgan Management and Planning Organization). The recent project is designed with the main goal of creating employment for coastal residents and the resulting technical information can be promoted or exploited by the private sector. It is noteworthy that in line with the need to cut dependence on the supply of juvenile fish from abroad and farming indigenous species, the project on broodstock development of cobia with the financial support of the Hormozgan Management and Planning Organization is being carried out at this station. The activities carried out were visited by the visitors. In the end, Mr. Salari also appreciated the actions taken at the station. He expressed satisfaction that the funds spent are in line with meeting the needs of the country and creating jobs in the province.
