In line with the emphasis of the Governor - general of the Mazandaran province on breeding and rearing of vannamei shrimp in the lands north of Behshahr - adjacent to Gorgan Bay, Dr. Ishaghi, the general manager of the Mazandaran Department of Fisheries, and Dr. Nasrollahzadeh, the head of the Caspian Sea Ecology Research Center, visited the 100 - hectare farm with a useful area of 45 hectares including 23 ponds owned by the Sadaf Mahi Company. Dr. Ishaghi emphasized on the serious and continuous support of the Department of Fisheries for the implementation of this activity in the region. Dr. Nasrollahzadeh stated: Considering the experience of the experts of the research center in shrimp farming, this center can have the necessary cooperation in the field of transfer of technical knowledge and other necessary support under the supervision of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute. The manager of this farm also asked the general manager of the Mazandaran Department of Fisheries to remove the obstacles and create a communication channel from the Gorgan Bay to this farm as well as to create the shrimp and Artemia village of the Mazandaran province. Therefore, it was decided to hold a meeting as soon as possible with the presence of relevant agencies, in order to coordinate the necessary activities.
