Dr. Mahmoud Bahmani, the director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, welcomed the audience. He thanked the new members of the Research Council for their presence. The new members of the Research Council included Dr. Behrouz Abtahi, the head of the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science, Dr. Masoud Rezaei, the vice chancellor of the Tarbiat Modares University, Mr. Seyed Parviz Mohebbi, the deputy director of capture fisheries of the Iran Fisheries Organization, Dr. Mostafa Sharif Rouhani, the deputy director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, Dr. Mansour Sharifian, the head of the aquaculture department of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, Dr. Mohammad Sayad Borani, the head of the National Inland Water Aquaculture Institute, and Dr. Hossein Hooshmand, the head of the South of Iran Aquaculture Research Center. He called on the new members to work with other members of the Research Council to advance the lofty goals of the institute. Dr. Bahmani explained about the goals of the institute according to the articles of association, the internal regulations of the Research Council, the description of duties and powers of the members of the Research Council as well as the future policies and guidelines. Dr. Mostafa Sharif Rouhani explained about the structural reform and re-engineering of the headquarters, research institutes and research centers. Dr. Mahmoud Hafezieh, the deputy director for research and technology, while presenting the performance report of his deputy, pointed out the research priorities in 2020 - 2021. Dr. Homayoun Hosseinzadeh, the deputy director for fisheries and aquaculture extension and transfer of research findings, and Dr. Babak Ghaednia, the deputy director for planning and support, also outlined the fisheries and aquaculture extension priorities and budget commitments in 2020 - 2021, respectively. Dr. Sharareh Khodami, the head of the coordination of research affairs department, explained the new guidelines for developing and approving research programs, plans, projects and research reports. At the end, the director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute summarized the issues raised and the following items were approved by the council: Projects approved by the Scientific and Technical Committee until July 2020 in order to send the titles to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the policies and the research and extension priorities in 2020 - 2021 in order to notify the research institutes and research centers affiliated with the institute and re - engineering the structure of the institute.
