In order to study the status of bony fish catch this year and the possibility of extending the time of fishing, a meeting was held at the Iran Fisheries Organization with the presence of the deputy director of capture fisheries and fishermen's affairs, the experts, the commander of resource conservation of the Iran Fisheries Organization, the deputies of fishing and exploitation in the Northern provinces as well as the representatives of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute. At the meeting, a brief report was presented on the catch rate of various bony fish species. Then, the representative of the institute (Dr. Fazli)presented a comprehensive report on the catch status of different bony fish groups from 1995 - 1996 to 2019 - 2020, the longitudinal structure and abundance of non - standard
size fish of important species including Caspian white fish, golden grey mullet and carp as well as the abundance of non - standard size fish throughout the day and night. The extent of changes in the stocks of important species including Caspian white fish and golden grey mullet and coefficient of resource utilization over the last three decades, factors affecting optimal and continuous harvesting of bony fish stocks including catch time during open season and throughout the day and night, fishing location, standards of fishing equipment and observing the netmesh size on the sides of the purse seine nets, observing the maximum sustainable yield and rate of exploitation and especially controlling illegal fishing were also discussed. At the meeting, the representatives of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute emphasized that harvesting should be conducted in accordance with the fishing laws and regulations for bony fish and that any increase or extension of fishing period (throughout the day and night) should be avoided.
