The nanotechnology for health, new fisheries and value added event (Hackathon) is being held at the Iran University of Medical Sciences.Dr. Bahmani, the director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, gave a speech at the event, highlighting important issues in the field of fisheries research and the effective achievements of researchers in this field.Dr. Mahmoud Bahmani noted that research in fisheries science has a significant impact on enhancing community health. He mentioned:One of the main missions of the institute is the development of fisheries sub-sectors whose ultimate goal is to promote community health. The director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute added: Unfortunately, the per capita consumption of fish in the country is about 12.1 kg per yearwhich is not appropriate. For this reason, efforts are being made to increase this number in order to promote community health. Dr. Bahmani continued:The achievements of the researchers of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, which has a 100 - year history, cover a wide range of areas including acquiring the technical knowledge in production of omega 3 fatty acids from Kilka oil, gelatin from sturgeon skin, chitin and chitosan from shrimp shell wastes as well as shrimp probiotics, which is notable achievements in the field of conversion industries. The introduction of technologies related to algae and aquatic plants, extraction of pigments, various proteins and compounds of marine origin were other topics that Dr. Bahmani pointed out. He also cited that the production of nano - marine drugs in Chabahar region, special products by the application of nanotechnology as preservatives for food and fishery products and their application in various industries and nanovaccines that can be produced in the Chabahar region with emphasis on aquatics and nanostructured hormones and ... are the most important proposals in the field of nanotechnology and fisheries sciences. At the event, Dr. Pournik, the executive secretary of the nanotechnology for health, new fisheries and value added event, said: This event is an entrepreneurial event that the first steps for its implementation were carried out during a visit to the Chabahar region. Therefore, the Iran University of Medical Sciences decided to take effective steps in creating wealth and value, one of which is the Hackathon. He added: Hackathon represents a continuous effort to solve the problems in one area as far as it can be solved, and the event takes place in the field of fisheries sciences and its relation to nanotechnology. Of course, during this event we will benefit from the advice and guidance of different people with different expertise.Dr. Mehravi, the technology development manager of the Iran University of Medical Sciences and the scientific secretary of the nanotechnology for health, new fisheries and value added event (Hackathon), said the purpose of the event was to create added value for nanotechnology products in the field of health and fisheries. He praised the cooperation of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute in organizing the event. It is worth mentioning that the nanotechnology for health, new fisheries and value added event (Hackathon) begins today, February 19, and runs until February 22 for four days. The event will feature courses on teamwork and team management, idea – to - market, mobile learning as well as nanotechnology and digital education. There will be a reception for participants and ideologists.
