Dr. Bahmani pointed to the presidential directive to review imported inputs and goods that could be produced domestically. The director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute said: The most important inputs for imports in the field of fisheries and aquaculture include rainbow trout eyed eggs, supplements for some aquatic food ingredients, equipment needed for mechanization, disease free shrimp broodstock, some of the equipment needed by the cage fish farming industry and ornamental fish. Other requirements should be announced by the Iran Fisheries Organization and the Iran Veterinary Organization. He continued: Although some domestic products may not be as good as foreign ones in terms of quality, they will require more serious attention due to sanctions and problems stemming from cuts in oil revenues and given the year of production boom.Dr. Abdolahi, the deputy director of aquaculture development of the Iran Fisheries Organization, pointed to the recent floods in Sistan and Baluchestan province and said: Although
the flooding caused significant damage to the agricultural sector, the Gwadar region as the aquaculture hub of the province remained somewhat immune to the damage. He said the area had significant potential for growth and development and called on the country's Fisheries Science Research Institute to develop and implement a project to monitor shrimp farming activities at the Gwadar shrimp farming site. The deputy director of aquaculture development of the Iran Fisheries Organization emphasized: It is desirable that research on monitoring of this region be activated. The Department of Fisheries of the province will also have the necessary cooperation with the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute. Concerning the smart aquaculture activities, Dr. Abdolahi suggested:It is advisable to hold a meeting in collaboration with relevant scientific groups and the private sector to share up – to - date information among users, experts and researchers. In this regard, Dr. Hossein Zadeh, the deputy director of fisheries and aquaculture extension and
transfer of research findings, welcomed the idea of holding a joint meeting.
