At the Thirty - Fourth Convention on Selecting the Top People in the Agricultural Sector, 14 people were selected from the fisheries and aquaculture sector.This year, 22 % of the 325 cases received by the Agricultural Research Education and Extension Organizationwere from the fisheries and aquaculture sector and the highest number of received cases was related to coldwater fish.The specialized meeting of top selected people in fisheries sector with the executives and fisheries research managers of the country was held and all the top selected people in fisheries sector raised their problems and issues in the field of aquaculture and asked the managers to help them overcome these obstacles. Issues such as fuel quotas, receiving facilities from the bank, obtaining the necessary permits from the Water Organization, lack of proper distance between shrimp farms, problems with relevant organizations involved in aquaculture, target market and lack of space for training were among the most important issues raised by the sample users. Dr. Khon Mirzaei, the deputy minister and the head of the Iran Fisheries Organization, referred to the executives and exploiters as inseparable components of the research and expressed readiness for further cooperation to resolve the problems.At this meeting, Dr. Bahmani, the director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, congratulated the top selected people in fisheries sector and said:There is no doubt that there have been significant strengths and benchmarks in your fisheries activities that have been taken into consideration by the referees and the referees have selected you as the top selected people in fisheries sector. The director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute added:Previously it was believed that research is for the beneficiaries, but today it is believed that research should work with the beneficiaries. The private sector can thus be a pioneer for research development. Therefore, we work with the private sector on various fisheries research sections such as shrimp, coldwater fish as well as warmwater fish and even ornamental fish.This will be possible with the help of our 11 affiliated research centers and research institutes.At the end, the relevant managers responded to the issues raised and promised to pursue them.It is worth mentioning that the meeting was attended by Dr. Hossein Abdolhai, the deputy director of aquaculture development of the Iran Fisheries Organization, Dr. Hossein Zadeh, the deputy director of fisheries and aquaculture extension and transfer of research findings of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, Dr. Ghajari, the general manager of aquatic health of the Iran Veterinary Organization, Mr. Akhundi, the general manager of fishing and capture fisheries affairs, Mr. Mohebbi, the deputy director of capture fisheries and fishing port of the Iran Fisheries Organization, Dr. Vali Nasab, the academic member of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, Dr. Shenavar Masuleh, the head of the International Sturgeon Research Institute,and a group of activists in the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
