Prior to these visits, Dr. Bahmani met with Mr. Najafi, the head of the Organization of Agriculture- Jahad- Markazi Province, and Mr. Akbari, the fisheries and aquatics manager of the Markazi Province, to discuss ways to develop ornamental fish research in the province. It was decided that the necessary planning for this important task should be carried out as soon as possible in the field of training and implementation of research projects. It should be noted that Dr. Bahmani and the deputies of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute were accompanied by the managers of the Organization of Agriculture- Jahad of the mentioned cities and their governors in these visits. Dr. Bahmani said during a visit to the Mohammadabad Agricultural and Industrial Complex: This complex is one of the valuable capacities and potentials that exist in the field of reproduction and production of ornamental fish in the Markazi Province. The director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute added: Despite sanctions and economic pressures, we had good exports to neighboring countries
like Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Afghanistan and Armenia last year and this year. He noted that about 58 species of ornamental fish have been propagated in the Mohammadabad Agricultural and Industrial Complex. Dr. Bahmani mentioned: Of the total number of 250 million ornamental fish produced in the country in 2018 - 2019, about 2 million fish were exported overseas, more than 90% of which came from the Markazi Province.Given one of the goals and programs of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute is to support employment and production activities of micro producers in the field of aquaculture and in particular ornamental fish farming, he added: We look forward to continue these activities in the near future in the context of training programs suitable for micro producers active in rural and domestic occupations in relation to ornamental fish farming with the assistance of the Organization of Agriculture- Jahad of the province and the Markazi Province Department of Fisheries.
