The edible oyster mariculture training workshop was held in the Divan village in the Bandar Lengeh County. The training workshop was held on the Farm Day with the presence of Mr. Zerehi, the deputy governor of the Bandar Lengeh County, Mir Hosseini, the prefect of the Bandar Lengeh County, Dr. Mortazavi, the head of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea Ecological Research Institute, Dr. Mohebbi, the deputy director of research, Mr. Rameshi, the head of the Bandar Lengeh Research Station, Dr. Rouhani, the head of the aquaculture department of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea Ecological Research Institute, managers of the Organization of Agriculture - Jahad - Bandar Lengeh, members of the Bandar Lengeh Fisheries Cooperatives, fisheries experts and a group of exploiters. At this gathering, Dr. Mortazavi first addressed the aims and tasks of the research institute and creating job through aquaculture for the coastal communities. Concerning the Farm Day and the oyster culture training workshop, he said that one of the things that can create jobs and prosperity in the province is the edible oyster mariculture.Mr.Zerehi also pointed to the importance of developing the Bandar Lengeh County with a focus on aquaculture development. He stated that oyster farming is appropriate for this purpose. The deputy governor of the Bandar Lengeh County called on the Municipalities and Village Administrators and the Islamic Council of Villages and Coastal Ports to work with experts and the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute.Mr. Sheikh Zadeh, the manager of the Organization of Agriculture - Jahad - Bandar Lengeh, also said the establishment of the oyster farm was one of the priorities of the Bandar Lengeh County and noted that they would cooperate with the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute.Mr. Divan Zadeh, the head of the Divan Port Fisheries Cooperative, said that the coastal communities used to eat edible oyster in the past and called for training courses to familiarize indigenous people with the edible oyster mariculture. He also welcomed the establishment of the oyster farm owned by the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute in the Divan Port.Mr. Rameshi, the executor of the edible oyster mariculture project and the head of the Bandar Lengeh Research Station, thanked the participants for attending the Farm Day ceremony. He explained the various stages of edible oyster farming using slides and films and noted the benefits of the edible oyster mariculture.Mr. Rameshi said: As the edible oysters are reared at the sea, there is no need to exchange water and feed the oysters and the only challenge is the physical protection of the oyster farms. At the end of the meeting, a question and answer session was held and he provided the necessary answers to the questions of exploiters. After completing the theoretical discussions of this course, participants at the meeting visited the oyster pilot farm in the Bandar-e Mollu, Bandar Lengeh County.
