According to the schedule of research patrols for the macro project of biomass estimation of benthic resources in the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea by the swept area method and monitoring the important ecological parameters, the first research patrol of this project to cover the Oman Sea in the waters of Sistan and Baluchestan province began on Thursday, November 14, 2019, using the Ferdows - 1 research vessel. It should be noted that this year, as in previous years, bottom trawl catches are sampled along with evaluation of ecological, biological and non - biological information such as plankton, benthos, ichthyoplankton as well as physical and chemical parameters of water. The important goals of this project are:
1. Biomass estimation of various species or groups of aquatic organisms in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea bottom trawl catches
2.Determination of the Catch Per Unit Area (CPUA) of various aquatic species or groups of benthic organisms in different stage and depth layers
3.Determination of species composition and their ratios with emphasis on calculating the rate of fisheries bycatch and discards
4.Determination of the distribution pattern of commercially important species in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea
5. Determination of the trend of CPUA and biomass rate changes compared to previous years
6.Determination of the relationship between the catch per unit area and biomass with the parameters of biological environment (chlorophyll a, microzooplankton, macrozooplankton, macrobenthos, etc.)
7.Determination of the relationship between the catch per unit area and biomass with the parameters of non - biological environment (physical and chemical parameters, status of organic and inorganic contaminants, nutrient change process, etc.)
