A meeting was held at the aquatic nutrition and live feed culture research station of the National Inland Water Aquaculture Institute with the presence of Dr. Bahmani, the director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute. At the meeting, Dr. Vali Pour, the head of the National Inland Water Aquaculture Institute, welcomed the guests and thanked Dr. Bahmani for his presence and provided a report on the station's activities. Then, each of the colleagues expressed their views on various research and administrative areas. The director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute thanked his colleagues and outlined the institute's priorities. He cited the institute's expectations of the station to promote effective research and extension programs in a variety of specialized fields. He also said that upgrading the station was a priority for the institute in terms of construction and equipment. At the same time, he requested the involvement and cooperation of all colleagues in realizing it.Dr. Bahmani also emphasized the role of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute in achieving the goals of the Anzali Wetland Restoration Macro Project in Gilan province. The director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute emphasized the role of the research institute in achieving the goals of the project, with over
70 years of research experience and assisting the executive departments in achieving the objectives of the wetland restoration and listed it as one of the research priorities of the institute. In this regard, he called for a report on all the activities carried out at the National Inland Water Aquaculture Institute, explaining the results and outlining the proposed future plans for Anzali wetland restoration, particularly in the area of passive defense, prevention of bioterrorism, conservation of biodiversity, control and prevention of environmental pollutants, increase of water and prevention of drying process, to be provided to the executive organizations responsible for environmental protection in order to attract the necessary support for implementation of the project.Dr. Bahmani had a meeting with the head and the deputy director of the Management and Planning Organization of Gilan Province to introduce and explain the importance of the Gilan ship in applied research as the only research vessel that can be used for deep sea research in the Caspian Sea.Dr. Mohammadi, the head of the Management and Planning Organization of Gilan Province, emphasized the need to rebuild, launch and operate the highly valuable ship and pledged to assist to provide part of the funding needed to equip the Gilan ship based on existing needs. The director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute emphasized that other steps would be pursued on a more rigorous basis through the management team of the vessel and the managers of the National Inland Water Aquaculture Institute as well as the Caspian Sea Ecology Research Center to launch the first marine research patrol in January 2020 in order to assess the commercially important fish resources of the Caspian Sea at depths of more than 100 meters.
