The twenty-second specialized conference of the presidents of the Union of State Universities and research institutes from the five countries bordering the Caspian Sea was held with the presence of the heads and deputies of the union from the five countries bordering the Caspian Sea including the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Iran. The conference was held at the Faculty of Art and Architecture, University of Guilan. The meeting discussed issues such as joint educational and research programs, student and scientific competitions, the Union Roadmap and the signing of the protocol. This union consists of 30 members and the National Inland Water Aquaculture Institute also participated in the meeting as a key member. At the end of the meeting, the final protocol, including various ratifications, was signed by the members and the next meeting was scheduled to be held in Kalmykia, Russia.
