Dr. Bahmani, the director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, along with the deputies visited the Inland Waters Aquatic Stocks Research Center – Gorgan. A meeting was held to examine the condition of the Gomishan shrimp farming site, the disease created this year, presenting development strategies, presenting a report on the implementation of the gray mullet project and problems facing it, as well as joint cooperation between the Golestan Department of Fisheries and the Inland Waters Aquatic Stocks Research Center.Dr. Aghaei Moghaddam, the head of the Inland Waters Aquatic Stocks Research Center, welcomed the attendees and presented a report on activities related to ten-year performance of the center and the most important ongoing activities of the center. Dr. Mortezaei presented a brief report on the status of projects and related issues. Then, the director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute appreciated and thanked his colleagues for the effective projects and plans of the center
including shrimp farming in Gomishan, monitoring the Caspian sea resources, feasibility of aquaculture in lake dams, grey mullet reproduction and production in interacting with other organizations and utilizing existing capacity. The colleagues at the center also pointed out the problems that were addressed by the director of the institute and the deputies and were put on the agenda for follow-up according to the facilities and criteria.Dr. Bahmani and the accompanying delegation visited the freshwater farm in Alang and discussed the joint aquaculture activities with Dr. Faraji, the head of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Research Center of the province, and the deputies of the center. Dr. Bahmani and the deputies visited research and construction projects and plans at the Qarah Su Station, especially in the field of ornamental fish reproduction and production as well as the carp and Rutilus rutilus caspicus gene bank. At the second meeting of the Provincial Shrimp Alliance that was held to discuss ways to compensate the damages caused by white spot syndrome at the Gomishan shrimp farming site, attended by Dr. Hagh Shenas, the governor of the Golestan province, Dr. Khon Mirzaei, the deputy minister and the head of the Iran Fisheries Organization, the national and provincial general managers, shrimp farmers and shrimp industry investors. At the meeting, they were explained about the plans of
the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute for holding workshops, providing instructions, shrimp farming in the presence of the disease and future research as well as collaborations on the development of a kit to diagnose the disease. At the end, they visited the water supply channel of Mahak Shrimp Reproduction Center at the Gomishan shrimp farming site, the Khajeh Nafas cage fish farming site and the sturgeon culture in enclosed environment in Ashūradeh.
