The specialized meeting was held to study the causes of the outbreak of white spot syndrome and to present suitable solutions for shrimp farming in the presence of the disease in the coming years. The specialized meeting on white spot syndrome of shrimp was held at the Gomishan Shrimp Farming Site in the presence of Dr. Aghaei Moghaddam, the head of the Inland Waters Aquatic Stocks Research Center - Gorgan, Dr. Ghareh Vei and Mr. Hagh Panah along with Dr. Qhaed Niya from the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, Dr. Dashtian Nasab, the head of the Shrimp Research Institute of Iran, expert from the Department of Fisheries and regional promoters from the office of fisheries and aquaculture extension of the Organization of Agriculture- Jahad of the province. The shrimp expert from the Department of Fisheries provided statistics on the number of farms, number of ponds, total area of shrimp farming at the Gomishan Shrimp Farming Site, number of farms and ponds involved with the disease and the average number of shrimp in storage ponds and the amount of shrimp that can be
harvested. Then, Dr. Aghaei Moghaddam presented some tips on the cooperation of public and private sectors in order to fundamentally exploit and reduce white spot syndrome of shrimp as well as farm shrimp in the presence of disease. After contemplation and coordination to implement the aquaculture extension project on prevention and management of white spot syndrome of shrimp in Golestan province in cooperation with the provincial executive organizations, the shrimp farms at the Gomishan Shrimp Farming Site were visited. For further study, shrimp sampling was performed during harvest.
