Meeting of the self-reliance working group of the Agricultural Research Education and Extension Organizationwas held at the session hall of the institute with the presence of Dr. Mahmoodi, the deputy director for the development of management and organization resources, along with his companions, Dr. Motalebi, the consultant of the organization, Dr. Bahmani, the director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, the deputies of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, the heads of the affiliated research institutes and research centers as well as the heads of the Gilan research institutes. The meeting was hosted by the National Inland Water Aquaculture Institute.
The members of the working group visited the research laboratories and became acquainted with the practical and effective activities in progress. Dr. Valipur, the head of the National Inland Water Aquaculture Institute, welcomed the guests and considered the development of self-reliance as a valuable opportunity for the institute. He presented a report on the activities of the institute and the main issues that could lead to self-reliance and income generation and job creation, such as the preparation of a water resource map for the whole country and planning for the use of water resources in aquaculture development based on the valuable findings of the institute in more than 16 provinces of the country, the Caspian white fish farming, Sander lucioperca farming, commercialization of the production of the diagnostic kit for VHS and producing a variety of aquatic products which was approved for planning and implementation after evaluation and analysis by the members of the working group. Each of the heads of the Gilan research
institutes affiliated with the Agricultural Research Education and Extension Organization, including the International Sturgeon Research Institute, the Rice Research Institute, the Tea Research Institute, the Silkworm Research Institute, the Agriculture Biotechnology Research Institute of the provinceand the Natural Resources Research Center of the province presented the important areas of action in the province in line with the self-reliance project of the organization and made the necessary decisions.
