The ceremony for the release of indigenous juvenile fish in line with the implementation of the extension plan (public participation in the restoration of aquatic resources of inland waters - Shadegan International Wetlands) was held on July 10, 2019 in Sarakhiyeh village in Shadegan County, Khuzestan Province.Considering the provision of water of Shadegan International Wetlands and the provision of suitable ecosystem for indigenous fish this year, the extension plan has been implemented with the support of the deputy director of fisheries and aquaculture extension and transfer of research findings of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, the office for the restoration of aquatic resources of the Iran Fisheries Organization, the South of Iran Aquaculture Research Center, the Khuzestan Department of Fisheries, the manager of agricultural extension of the Organization of Agriculture- Jahad- Khuzestan province, the Shadegan Governorate, the manager of the Shadegan Department of Fisheries, the manager of the Organization of Agriculture- Jahad- Shadegan, the Ministry of Education- Shadegan, local residents and fishing community of Shadegan County.Dr. Hossein Zadeh Sahafi, the deputy director of fisheries and aquaculture extension and transfer of research findings of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, Mr. Karami Rad, the general manager of the office for the reconstruction and conservation of genetic reserves of the Iran Fisheries Organization, Dr. Simin Dehghan Mediseh, the head of the South of Iran Aquaculture Research Center, and the governor of Shadgan explained the steps involved in this project.Dr. Hossein Zadeh said the involvement of local people in the restoration of aquatic resources of inland waters in order to inform the public about the conservation of aquatic resources, preventing excessive fishing and transferring research findings to the exploiters is very important.Mr. Karami Rad while arguing that these extension projects could be a new and effective step in the restoration of aquatic resources of inland waters, called for the continuation of these plans and activities. Also, Dr. Simin Dehghan Mediseh said that more than 120 students participated in the project and added: Considering the release of fish today, since the beginning of the year, three and a half million fish have been released in the Shadegan International Wetlands.
