The reproduction of Sobaity Seabream with the aim of promoting the biotechnology of reproduction and cultivation of this species in earthen ponds belonging to the private sector began in January 2018. For this purpose, the specialized feeding of the broodstockbegan two months before the beginning of the reproduction season. On February 19, 2018, the first spawning was observed and it continued until April 10, 2019. During this time, 6500 cc floating and fertilized eggs were collected from 10 female and 12 male brooder fish, and 6 million one day old larvae with the hatch rate of about 90% were obtained. With the proper nutrition management of broodstock for the first time in this project, the number of spawning days for broodstock increased for 50 days and the amount of fertilized eggs increased more than doubled. In the past years, the maximum number of spawning days at the station for Sobaity Seabream broodstock was between 20 and 25 days. The best survival rate of the juveniles in the hatchery tanks was 12,000 pieces and about 8.5%, which for the first time was recorded at the station for this valuable marine species. At the end of the reproduction period, 40,000 fingerlings from 400 to 600 milligrams weight were donated for  the cultivation of this species in earthen ponds owned by a shrimp farming company in the Chavibdehcity, Abadan. The Imam Khomeini Marine Fish Research Station has also contributed to the promotion of marine fish reproduction technique with the production of 42,000 Sobaity Seabream fingerlings and the support and transfer of reproduction knowledge to the private sector (Zarin Shrimp Nasr Company).
