The meeting was held in order to review and obtain common views on current activities and research priorities in 2019-2020 with the presence of the head of the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea Ecological Research Institute, the deputy director of the department and experts in the department of capture fisheries and the head of department and experts in the department of biology and stock assessment of the institute. At first, the head and the deputy director of the research department of the institute welcomed the participants and overviewed their joint activities. In the following, Dr. Salar Pouri, the head of the department of aquatic biology and stock assessment, introduced the most important research achievements that have been made since 2011 in the field of stock assessment of aquatic organisms and capture fisheries. Then, Mr. Javan Mard, the deputy director of capture fisheries of the Department of Fisheries of the province, explained the importance of implementing joint projects to overcome the problems of the fishing community and exploitation of marine resources. At the meeting, the research experts explained the most important research achievements that have been made in their field of expertise. The importance of receiving timely and accurate fisheries statistics of the Department of Fisheries of Hormozgan Province for analysis in marine-related research was discussed and the pilot design of the application for registration and receipt of online fishing data was proposed. The results of researches on resources of demersal fish, pelagic fish (sardines and tuna fish), mesopelagic fish (lanternfishes and cutlassfishes) and commercially important shrimp species of Hormozgan province were discussed. The implementation of corrective actions on the exploitation of aquatic resources through the management plan for the conservation and rebuilding resources of aquatics and the standardization of fishing gear was emphasized. Execution of fisheries extension programs to promote the results of research achievements with the aim of sustainable and responsible fishing in order to ensure sustainable livelihoods of the Hormozgan fishing community was highlighted.
