Dr. Seyed Hadi Bahadori, the representative of Urmia people in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, and his companions visited innovations, research capabilities and laboratory facilities of the Iranian Artemia Research Center. At the meeting, Dr. Nekoui Fard, the head of the Iranian Artemia Research Center, welcomed the audience and provided the required explanations on the mission and responsibilities assigned to the center for Artemia throughout the country, applied research in the fisheries sciences in the northwest of the country and the role of the center in the development of aquaculture in the region. In addition, the project of monitoring the resources of freshwater crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus) and economically important aquatic species in Aras Dam Lake, the Artemia urimiana stock assessment project in view of the improvement of the lake situation in order to allocate provincial credits and support the proposed project for the production of Artemia urimiana in the greenhouse wastewater discharge and cooperation with the Municipal Organization of the province on Artemia culture in 200 hectares of Fesenduz plain were discussed. Then, Dr. Bahadori expressed his satisfaction with the valuable projects carried out at the center in the presence of the personnel of the center. He emphasized the support of applied research in aquaculture projects and the pursuit of the allocation of relevant budgets and called for the necessary follow-up from the center. At the request of the head of the Iranian Artemia Research Center for renewal of the license of the research center in order to be the Artemia reference center in Central Asia and West Asia (this license is issued by the FAO and requires payment of the membership fee to the FAO), Dr. Bahadori announced his readiness to follow up to achieve the desired result.
