The Third Conference and the First National Congress on Fisheries Resources was held at the Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, during which Dr. Mohammad Pourkazemi was one of the key speakers at the ceremony. Dr. Pourkazemi, the director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, emphasized on the role of research and effective communication between universities and research institutes. He mentioned: Considering the realities of the climate of Iran, changing the approach in the educational and research system of universities, moving from traditional and small scale aquaculture to modern aquaculture, paying close attention to the empowerment and localization of technical knowledge and valuable potential of other aquatic organisms especially algae, oysters, sea cucumbers, Artemia and lobster are essential. In another part of his speech, he added: The sustained and dynamic systematic communication and the creation of the network of information and knowledge among research institutes, universities, knowledge-based companies and the private sector can play an effective role in this change of approach. Fish capture technology, genetics and aquatic biotechnology, aquatic cell technology, fish processing and production of processed aquatic products, identification and extraction of new compounds from aquatic organisms, reproduction and production of aquatics, aquatic nutrition, health and diseases of aquatic organisms, aquatic biology and ecology, biodiversity and aquatic conservation, aquatic physiology and development of aquatics and entrepreneurship and fisheries business were among the most important issues of the Third Conference and the First National Congress on Fisheries Resources.
