Dr. Hafezieh, the head of the department of aquaculture, along with Dr. Ghaffari, the head of the department of biotechnology, and Dr. Golshan, the head of the biotechnology and biological products group of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, visited the Coldwater Fishes Research Center of Tonekabon on Saturday, April 27, 2019. During the visit, Dr. Mohseni, the head of the Coldwater Fishes Research Center, briefly described the progress of research projects and ongoing construction projects. At the meeting with the presence of departmental officials, Dr. Mohseni presented the problems and damages caused by the recent flood to the center. Dr. Hafezieh explained that the problem of water entering the hall should first be considered seriously for the project of producing 100,000 juvenile Salmo trutta caspius for introduction into cages as well as the layout of different parts of the hall for reproduction and production of Salmo trutta caspius. Then, Dr. Ghaffari and Dr. Golshan expressed their views on the Salmo trutta caspius gene bank project, how to supply broodstock and number of brooder fish and the site for the keeping of Salmo trutta caspius population and its water supply resources, and provided the necessary solutions for the implementation of this project. They also visited various parts of the center including the site for the macro project of Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) rainbow trout production, the site for Salmo trutta caspius farming, the reproduction and production hall that was under construction, the aeration tower, the ozone room, the oxygenator and finally, the gabion stone wall that was under construction on the bank of the river.
