Following the decision of the Agricultural Research Education and Extension Organization on the establishment of a headquarters for the prevention and reduction of flood effects, the first meeting of the headquarters for reducing impact and tackling flood issues in the field of aquatics was held at the session hall of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute with the presence of the deputy directors and heads of research departments, dated 28 April 2019. Dr. Pourkazemi, the director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, expressed some of the problems caused by the recent flood in the fields of fisheries and aquaculture and announced the establishment of a specialized secretariat for incidental accidents. The secretariat is responsible for the specialized assessment of hazards and incidents and providing scientific solutions to overcome the crisis. Following the comments of the members of the headquarters, it was decided that regarding the problems caused by floods in different provinces of the country, the secretariat will use its best endeavors to collaborate scientifically in solving problems and planning for sustainable aquaculture development based on aquaculture zoning. Follow up of national collaborations with universities and executive organizations as well as international institutions to reduce existing damage were put on the agenda of this headquarters. The need for short and medium term planning, information and presence of experts from affiliated centers and research institutes in flood-affected areas was emphasized during the meeting. The Basij specialist group of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute is responsible for this headquarters.
