A one-day educational workshop entitled "Hematology of Fish" was held theoretically and practically in the meeting room and the laboratory of aquatic physiology of the department of production, reproduction and selective breeding of aquatic organisms with the participation of university students, researchers from various research centers and researchers from private sectors. At first, the importance of the knowledge of fish hematology, the basic principles for understanding the blood tissue, the morphology of different types of blood cells and related diseases, the principles of blood sampling from fish, maintaining the sample and transferring it to the laboratory, various methods of measuring blood indices, interpretation of the results and applied projects about the studies on blood physiology of fish were presented by Dr. Mohadeseh Ahmad Nejad, the physiology instructor. In the practical part of the workshop, the university students under the supervision of Mr. Sohrab Dezhandian were acquainted with the steps of blood sampling, determination of the hematocrit, spreading of blood, staining, microscopic examination and blood cell count in fish.
