Dr. Mohammad Pourkazemi said at the meeting of the management council of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute and affiliated research institutes and research centers: "Considering the sensitive conditions of the country and the need for sustainability in the fisheries sector, the need for jihadist, transformative and developing managers and the presence in field and executive fields is strongly felt, especially the implementation of new and effective agreed projects and issues related to other aquatic organisms such as algae and aquatic plants, edible shellfish, forage production, sea cucumber and so on. He pointed to the fact that the institute has made effective efforts for sustainable development of the fisheries and aquaculture sector, adding: Cage fish farming, operating the program of eugenics and selective breeding of aquatic organisms such as carp, trout and shrimp, forming the gene bank of endangered and economically important aquatic species, producing new processed aquatic products, assessing and distributing aquatic stocks and ecological monitoring of economically important aquatic species, producing vaccine kit for the diagnosis and treatment of aquatic diseases, tilapia aquaponics and the promotion and transfer of scientific findings are among the most important priorities of the institute. He mentioned: The definitive agreement of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology with three research institutes is one of the honors that represents the scientific degree of the affiliated research institutes to the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute. Also, holding four scientific research conferences in Bandar Abbas, Mazandaran, Ahvaz and in March of this year in Bushehr are among other things that the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research has been working on with full force for their implementation. Of course, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute should also be added to these honors. Dr. Pourkazemi said that a significant number of the projects of the institute were transferable and exploitable. He continued: production of Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) rainbow trout, promotion of the culture of consumption of various products of carp, creation of a diet formula for Salmo trutta caspius and the achievement of biotechnologyfor Sander lucioperca farming are some of these projects. Also, the improvement of the scientific rank of the English version of the Iranian Journal of Fisheries Sciences from Q4 to Q3, the selection of the Persian version of the Iranian Journal of Fisheries Sciencesas the leading Journal of the Agricultural Research Education and Extension Organization and the sale of two technical knowledge in the research week are among the other issues to be mentioned.In another part of his speech, Dr. Pourkazemi referred to the renovating and equipping of the Gilan research vessel which was conducted last year and he hoped that research patrols would be carried out in the near future in the Caspian Sea. He said: Research in the field of algae and aquatic plants, edible shellfish and sea cucumbers, producing and farming of Astacus leptodactylus in farms, selective breeding with the participation of private sector and particularly supporting the project of cage fish farming are among other goals that the institute pursues with absolute certainty. It is worth noting that the new website of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute was also unveiled at the ceremony.
