The joint meeting of officials and experts of the biotechnology department of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute and officials of the Agriculture Biotechnology Research Institute of Iran on the optimal use of microalgae metabolites in the food and pharmaceutical industries and the study of commercialization methods was held in Karaj with the presence of Dr. Azadi, the deputy director of technology, Dr. Nakhoda, the head of the department of molecular physiology, Dr. Shahbazi, the commercialization officer of the research institute, Dr. Ghaffari, the head of the biotechnology department, Dr. Golshan, the head of the department of biological products of the biotechnology department of the institute, Dr. Safari, the head of the biotechnology department of the Caspian Sea Ecology Research Center. Initially, in order to get each participant more acquainted with the activities performed, the achievements were expressed and the weaknesses and strengths of production of microalgae and its products were discussed. Then, regarding the many opportunities in the field of microalgae cultivation in the country and the production of its metabolites, as well as the prevention of the parallel work of the related organizations, it was stipulated that the preliminary draft of the joint pilot project for the production of phycocyanin should be prepared by Dr. Safari and Dr. Shahbazi to be evaluated in future sessions. At the end, specialized laboratories and equipment at the research institute were visited, and experts from each department provided explanations on the ongoing research projects and the research projects carried out.
