The first specialized and thinking meeting on stock assessment and management of the Caspian Sea bony fishes (past, present and future) was held in the meeting room of the Golestan Department of Fisheries in collaboration with the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, the Caspian Sea Ecology Research Center and the Golestan Department of Fisheries. The community of exploiters, the bony fish fishermen’s union, the Pareh-Cooperatives in Golestan Province, experts from the fish stock rebuilding centers in the province, experts from the deputy directorate of capture fisheries and the experts from the fish stock rebuilding department of the center participated at the specialized meeting. Dr. Aghayi Moghadam welcomed the participants and presented the agenda of the meeting. Dr Taghavi, the consultant to the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute and the head of the department of biology and stock assessment of the institute, spoke about the program of holding such meetings and the reason for holding this meeting in the provinces for meaningful communication between the researches and the community of exploiters. The general manager of the Golestan Department of Fisheries welcomed the attendees and spoke about the activities of the Department of Fisheries in dealing with illegal fishing and the activities of resource conservation forces in the province. Three lectures were presented at the meeting. The first speech was presented by the deputy director of research of the Inland Waters Aquatic Stocks Research Center, entitled "Investigation of the internal and external factors affecting the economics of bony fishes". The second lecture was presented by Mr. Daryanabard, the expert of department of stock assessment of the Caspian Sea Ecology Research Center, entitled "Stock rebuilding and its impact on bony fishes biomass". In the third speech delivered by the deputy director of research of the Caspian Sea Ecology Research Center, the management of bony fish stocks and the influence of some environmental parameters on the recovery of the stocks of Caspian kutum and mullets were discussed and analyzed. A study on the possibility of direct release of fish to the sea and the use of provincial potentials to provide conditions for natural reproduction was proposed by experts from the fish stock rebuilding centers.
