The regional experts meeting was held on the promotional plan to increase the consumption of sardines through the production of marketable products on the model site in the presence of Mr. Nazar Nezhad, the coordination manager of agricultural extension, Hojatoleslam Fakhraei, the head of the Supreme Leader’s Representative Office at the Agricultural Research Education and Extension Organization, Mr. Mohseni, the deputy general manager of the Staff Training Office at the Agricultural Research Education and Extension Organization, Dr. Nazari, the deputy director of education of the Organization of Agriculture- Jahad of Hormozgan Province and more than 147 regional experts from the province and 22 students in the field of capture fisheries. The meeting was held in the form of three panels of lectures at the conference hall of the Organization of Agriculture- Jahad of Hormozgan Province. Mr. Nazar Nezhad, Hojatoleslam Fakhraei and Mr. Mohseni welcomed the regional experts and emphasized the importance of promoting the consumption of sardines. Dr. Ali Salarpouri gave a lecture on "The importance of small pelagic fish stocks (sardines and anchovies) in waters of Hormozgan Province", in which the biology, classification and ecology of sardines, the importance of sardines and anchovies in Hormozgan province were pointed out. Mr. Karim Zadeh delivered a lecture on "Promoting the consumption of sardines through the production of marketable products", which highlighted the nutritional value of sardines; rich in protein and unsaturated fatty acids that can guarantee the health of the heart, nerves and the development of children and adolescents and rich in calcium and phosphorus and fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E and K. He introduced a variety of processed products from sardines including oil, canned food and fish sauces. Mr. Karim Zadeh introduced purse seine fishing method as the most suitable fishing method for the processing of sardines and the production of dried and smoked sardines. Dr. Nazemi lectured on "The uses of secondary metabolites of sardines" which explained the definition of natural compounds and secondary metabolites, pharmaceutical products, food supplements and cosmetic products from sardines, added value and economic value of organic products from sardines and creating employment and income without petroleum from sardines. She reviewed the value added products of fish and sardines introduced to the world market. At the end of the meeting, the product marketability was analyzed by distributing the product and submitting survey forms by regional experts.
