Dr. Pourkazemi said at the meeting: the joint cooperation between the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute and the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science will not only reduce costs, but also will increase productivity and will improve the production in terms of available resources and capacities. Overall, it will increase effectiveness in this area. He added: recently three new floating vessels have been added to the available navy to promote research projects. However, the Gilan ship in the north and the Ferdows floating research vessel in the south were among the most potent equipments that have significant potentials for research. Dr. Pourkazemi believes that the study of the effects of climate change on the species suitable for cage fish farming and the exploitation ways of the fishermen and such issues are the major issues that could be the beginning of a collaborative effort. The head of the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science said at the meeting: the institute has the only oceanographic ship that can sample up to 2,000 meters and is very suitable for ecology. Dr Abtahi, referring to the fact that the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute with the age of 100 years has been able to take effective steps in the fields of fisheries and aquaculture, added: considering the ships provided to the institute, the total number of research ships in the country is nine which is still far from reaching the ideal level. He said: currently, there are 4 centers, 6 approved stations and 3 research institutes which are subset of this research institute. Fortunately, the institute also has centers in some provinces such as Chabahar and Bushehr which can bring the fields of cooperation closer together. It is worth mentioning that the joint work between the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute and the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science should be developed by the end of the year, and a special task force should be set up to follow up on this issue. Dr. Purang was introduced as the representative of the institute.
