According to the public relations of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute, the formation of rainbow trout selective breeding project began as a national and effective plan since last year and the proposals for the improvement and correction of the map of the selective breeding center of this project were presented by foreign experts, FAO and Norway experts and discussed from different angles at the last meeting held at the institute for this purpose.
Space needed for keeping the fry and fingerling fish and the eyed egg, solutions to reduce casualties, controlling diseases and promoting health and creating conditions for serious compliance with quarantine principles were some of the most important issues that were expressed and were emphasized the need for their implementation by Dr. Mohammad Pourkazemi, the director of the institute.
The meeting stipulated that if the infrastructure was completed with the full implementation of the project, fast growth breeding eggs and sterile trout which were previously considered as imported items should be produced in the country.
It should be noted that the rainbow trout selective breeding project in cooperation with the Iran Fisheries Organization and the joint project with the FAO is in progress in the form of TCP whose generalities and provisions have been approved. In this meeting, the director of the Iranian Fisheries Science and Research Institute along with the deputies, head of the Cold Water Fish Breeding Research Center (Yasuj), expert in aquatic health and nutrition, heads of various departments and a number of the institute experts were present and commented on the latest changes and modifications to the central site of selective breeding center and facilities of the project.
